Teaching expecting parents breastfeeding and newborn care.
I have joined forces with one of the most incredible midwives out there – Alania of Mosaic Midwifery. Alania is a brilliant Sydney based midwife and antenatal educator. Alania is ready to come to your home to teach expecting parents breastfeeding and newborn care.
Alania’s services are the perfect continuation of the specialised birth education I bring, as a birth doula and OMP eductor, to my clients.

A message from Alania and her offering:
Hello! My name is Alania, and congratulations on your pregnancy!
I am a midwife and an antenatal educator, with a passion for educating parents to be. I am so excited to join Danae in your journey to becoming parents.
Society tells us that breastfeeding is natural, and we all assume we can bring our baby earth-side and they will immediately latch to the breast and feed.
While this can happen, it does not always.
There are many factors that play a part in establishing and maintaining breastfeeding, for both mum and baby.
Breastfeeding is a learned skill, I can set you up with the skills and knowledge to begin your breastfeeding journey on the right foot.
My motto is “fed is best,” whether you decide to exclusively breastfeed, formula feed, express and bottle feed or a combination of breast milk and formula, it is essential to do what is right for your family and your circumstances.
Together with breastfeeding, those first 6 weeks of parenthood with a newborn baby are tough, but understanding what is going on with your baby and you will help you feel prepared for the journey. You will know what to expect, how to manage, plus the important life skills involved with caring for a newborn baby.
The topics Alania covers, depending on your unique circumstances, include:
- The Benefits of Breastfeeding for Both Mother and Baby
- Breast Anatomy & Physiology
- Breast Changes
- The Breast Crawl
- Recognising Feeding Cues
- Attachment and Positioning
- How to bottle feed (if applicable)
- Antenatal Hand Expressing
- Partners Support
- The First Days
- Stages of Breastmilk
- Storing breastmilk (or formula)
- Expectation vs Reality

- Normal Newborn behaviour
